WHAT TO EXPECT

This day-trip will take you off Phuket Island to an area of Thailand’s mainland that can only be described as breathtaking in its beauty. It is in this gorgeous spot that you will ride an elephant through the jungle in amazement at all the scenery, the beautiful green hills and streams flowing all around. You’ll also be river rafting, so plan on getting wet. It’s time for some thrills after those lazy days sunbathing on the beach! Rafting is so much fun, an activity that everyone can enjoy, especially the kids!

This day-trip begins with an early-morning drive to the sacred Monkey Temple, also known as the Suwan Kuha Temple, which is inside a cave within a giant limestone mountain. This has been a sacred place of worship for centuries. At some point in history, it became a Buddhist citadel. Its treasured Reclining Buddha statue has made this holy place revered by many who make the pilgrimage here to worship.

The Monkey Temple is so named because there are so many monkeys everywhere you look. They’re too wild to play with, but you can certainly have fun if you want to take a handful of corn and feed them.

Once you’ve finished touring the temple, you’ll relax over lunch. Your guides will take you to a nice Thai restaurant to dine on authentic cuisine right on a scenic riverbank.

After lunch, you will have a chance to ride on an elephant for 30 minutes deep into the jungle. You’ll be reminded of those jungle scenes in the movie Jurassic Park, so have your camera ready, although you won’t be snapping pictures of any dinosaurs!

Next, you’ll go River Rafting, which means you will need to change your clothes. This will give you a good paddle workout for about 5 km. Your guide will give you a short safety briefing and issue you lifejackets, helmets, etc. Get ready for some fun and excitement rafting on the river.

After river rafting, your guide will take you to Khao Lak Waterfall, the last spot on the trail. This is where you will enjoy fresh air, relax a bit and swim under the waterfall thinking about all the fun you had today.

The trip back to your hotel will take no more than an hour. You should easily be back in time for dinner, which you can enjoy while looking out at the sunset.
